GROUND
A raw mourning musical
When the mother of the young talented Ally suddenly dies, it’s as if she falls through a hole in the ground and ends up in the disordered world of mourning. Nothing is as it was and nothing she has ever learned helps her to get a grip on this new reality.
Is there no manual? A step-by-step guiding plan?
She clings to the special funeral undertaker with hare-teeth who shows her the way in the post-mortem dream world. The practical side of death offers some comfort, but nothing and no one has an answer to Ally's deep loss. How can it be that many have gone before her and yet the path feels so lonely?
GROUND is a brave new musical about mourning. This profound musical offers comfort and confronts you with mourning full of honesty, courage and humor. Welcome to the surreal world of condolence cards, service desks for survivors and oak veneer. Let yourself be carried away by classical sounds and the vital sound of contemporary pop. GROUND is a recognisable musical for everyone, created and told by a collective of explosive new musical theatre talent.
The first material of GROUND will be presented in May 2025 at the O Festival in Rotterdam. More information will follow.
